7 Ways to Motivate Yourself Every Day!

18 APRIL 2019

There are some days when it feels practically impossible to get motivated. Nothing seems to work to get me feeling energetic and productive.  I’m sure you have felt the same at one point or another.  Yet in order to achieve our goals, motivation is essential. Without it, nothing is accomplished. Responsibilities and tasks pile up. Our attention to our relationships and our businesses takes a back burner.  Life seems overwhelming such that motivation becomes even harder to find. However, with a few simple strategies we can motivate ourselves every day.

Here are seven for you to consider.

Just doing only one of these will help.

When you try all seven, you'll find yourself revved up and ready to go on a regular basis!

#1 Understand what motivates you.

Some people are motivated by a sense of accomplishment. Other people are motivated by praise. Still others are motivated by money. It’s even possible you’re motivated by something else. Understanding what actually motivates you or knowing your “WHY” will help you. When you’re feeling unmotivated, you can tap into that desire and WHY to get the kick-start you need.

For example, if you’re motivated by money, you might kick-start your day by doing something that earns a profit. Or you might look at the task you’re facing differently, if you realize it generates income (money generating tasks and projects should be prioritized everyday).

You’ve heard me talk about your “WHY” in the Weekly LEAP Videos  - go to https://reneeblasky.coachesconsole.com/the-weekly-leap.html to learn more about the importance of knowing your “WHY”.

#2 Create a morning routine.

Routines help set the mood for the day and can help you be productive. If your morning routine doesn’t support you to be motivated, it needs to change. A morning routine that supports motivation, productivity and energy might include:

  • Exercise—walking, yogo or stretching.

  • Meditation—five to ten minutes is all you need.

  • A healthy breakfast—Make sure you skip the refined sugars, flours and saturated fats.

#3 Start each workday doing something you enjoy and inspires you.

What do you enjoy doing? What part of your business do you feel passionate about?

Start your day focusing on those tasks and responsibilities. If you start your day doing something you dislike, it’s really difficult to feel motivated. Conversely, if you start each day doing what you love, the rest of the day is much easier to manage. And it’s much easier to get out of bed feeling upbeat and motivated.  I’m hoping you start the day working on an activity to help you earn more money!  After all what you focus on, you get!

#4 – Time Out: Take time away from work.

Owning your own business can be a round-the-clock job. You go to bed thinking about your business. You wake up thinking about it. This kind of non-stop attention can be draining. It’s easy to lose motivation. It is essential to take time outs!  Take time away from your business every day. It’s also important to create boundaries: create working hours and stick to them. Take time during your day to get some fresh air and exercise, too.

#5 Take time off for vacations.

Part of setting boundaries is so you can enjoy time with friends and family. And don’t forget to take time for yourself – this is super critical if you are an introvert. We need that time alone to rejuvenate.  When you are able to separate from your work-related responsibilities, it’s much easier to come back to them with energy and a smile.  I am often most creative when I’m either on a vacation or I’ve just come back from one.  They rev me up so I can put energy back into growing my business.

#6 Get help.

It is critical for you to remember you don’t have to do everything. In fact, you probably shouldn’t. There are some tasks best handled by others. It saves you time, energy and money. Additionally, you’re able to focus on the tasks you enjoy and the tasks that bring in money. Consider outsourcing or hiring employees to manage some tasks. For example, administrative tasks are often easy and inexpensive to outsource.  I have a virtual assistant who provides so much value to me.

#7 Find a few motivation triggers.

Music to me helps tremendously to uplift my mood and give motivation. Is there a song that helps you feel energetic? Does working in a different environment help motivate you? Is there an affirmation or happy thought that makes you smile and feel motivated?

These are simple strategies but they work.
You can wake every morning feeling motivated and raring to go!
