Hello Renée,

"The things that frighten us just want to be held" - Mark Nepo

Fear is an emotion that serves our needs by protecting us. Fear lets us play safe though, sometimes stopping us from reaching our full potential.  So the next time you feel fear, acknowledge it, thank it for serving and protecting you and then move past it so it doesn't stop you from taking that next courageous step in reaching your goals!

OVERWHELM-BUSTING STRATEGIES

Moving across town can be stressful but moving to another country can put you into overwhelm, right when you don’t have your support system to fall back on.  Symptoms of overwhelm can be different for each person: physical (nail biting, clumsiness, neck ache); psychological (forgetfulness, rudeness, defensiveness); social (poor hygiene, inadequate boundaries); or spiritual (loss of sense of purpose, unsure of what’s important).

Overwhelm triggers can be just as individual: a deadline, a certain tone of voice, and/or change.

Noticing these symptoms and triggers is like setting off a two-minute warning buzzer—giving you time to implement your proven intervention techniques.

I've put together some STRATEGIES and PRACTICES to help you BUST OVERWHELM!

YOU WERE BORN TO SHINE

Over time, fear, failure and exhaustion can dim even the brightest of lights.

But we need to keep our flame bright, not only to light our own way, but also so we may guide, support and encourage others. And that is why we must do all that we can to protect our flame from the destructive elements that want to squelch it.

Fuel is required to keep our flame going. Take time to think of things you can do to keep your energy high and your dreams alive, and make them a priority!

Here are a few ways that are sure to fuel your fire:

Express gratitude daily. Tell the people around you that you appreciate them. Give thanks for your health, your home, your friends and loved ones. Smile. Gratitude magnifies your feelings of goodwill, and your radiance.

Get physical. In order for us to be strong for others, we have to feel strong ourselves. Moving for just 20 minutes a day has been clinically shown to improve your mood and boost your health. Try a yoga class, ride your bike around town, or go for a swim, and you’ll shine brighter for others.

Meditate. Spending time in silence reconnects you with your source of self-awareness, self-assuredness and happiness. It’s also been shown to greatly reduce stress and improve communication. Meditation is your fuel.

What other things do you like to do to rekindle your fire?  Perhaps it is something artistic, taking a warm soothing bath, reading an inspiring book, or communing with nature...

What can YOU do to shine a little brighter TODAY?

Renée Blasky is the Founder and CEO of The LEAP Network Ltd.

She wasn’t always the risk-taking entrepreneur that she is today. Through several important life experiences, including being an "expat" for the vast majority of her life and sailing an ocean, she learned the importance and benefits of risk-taking and how to embrace risk rather than fear it! Renée also realized capturing life’s fulfillment meant giving back to others. So, she started her second business: The LEAP Network in order to share her experiences and expertise with "trailing spouses" who have sacrificed their careers to move across the globe when their spouses are transferred overseas.  Renée coaches on ways to avoid the "trailing spouse syndrome" to eliminate frustration, boredom and loneliness while becoming more fulfilled and happy!
