Hello Renée,

"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for" - Oprah Winfrey

The holidays are over!  Some of you may be sad and a bit lost; Life was so fun and hectic during the holidays and perhaps things are now not as exciting.  Or maybe you are really happy the holidays are finally over because your time was not your own and there were too many distractions over the holidays.  Whichever way you are feeling, if you haven’t already done so, now is the time to set yourself up for a really successful 2019!

This is your year to shine; to become the person you want to be,
and to build the business you want to meet your needs, passion and lifestyle!

I always give my clients an assignment around this time of year – to pick one word that will motivate you to succeed and achieve your goals for the year.  For 2019 I’ve actually chosen two words "Faith" and "Connect". I have faith in myself that I have the ability to achieve my Definite Purpose in life.  And I want to make more and deeper connections this year.  Have you ever noticed successful entrepreneurs spend more than 50% of their time networking so they can connect with potential customers/clients?  They understand that to build a powerful and growing business they must make and nurture connections!

In order to have the time to make super connections, productivity is critical so you can still get everything else done too.  So I hope you enjoy this week’s topic.

Taking the LEAP with you!

INCREASING PERSONAL PRODUCTIVITY

Often it seems we’re so busy putting out daily fires that we don’t ever get to accomplish anything of real significance—developing those connections that will make us happiest in the long run. Life becomes something to “get through” instead of an exciting path to greater fulfillment.

The efficiency of technology only increases the pressure we feel to do even more than ever before. All of it leaves us feeling too busy and robbed of a sense of accomplishment. So what can we do to increase personal productivity?

Below are some tips to help you to get more done in less time—and do what you really want to be doing.

Mission possible
Often busy-ness is a cover for not really knowing what’s the best thing to be doing or a sign of procrastination. To get around this, you have to know what your priorities are in the moment. To determine this you need to know what your larger life priorities are.

Stephen R. Covey, best-selling author of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, suggests writing a personal or organizational mission statement, a statement summarizing your higher purpose and goals in life. Here’s an example:

To create a balanced, healthy and value-driven life by creating nurturing relationships and guiding others to see their full potential through my work as a coach.

Without a mission, you won’t be able to say no to tasks. You can only know what to say “no” to when you know what to say “yes” to first. It’s a “no” if it doesn’t help you accomplish your goal.  If you find yourself procrastinating, perhaps you need to review your goals with someone to see if you are really following your passion.

GET CLEAR ON WHERE YOU’RE GOING

Have you ever felt that there’s just not enough time in the day? Most often, when we run out of time for projects or pursuits, the reason is that we’ve spent a lot of time lost in ambiguity.

When you’re supremely clear about where you’re going and what you want to do, there’s no time lost. Decisions are easy to make, actions are easy to take, and you can get a lot accomplished in a short period of time.

Fortunately, it’s pretty easy to eliminate this time-management nightmare and it's as easy as 1-2-3!

Check out Trello and Asana for help in managing your projects, work and tasks.

I personally use Trello for big projects and have found it useful.  My friends tell me they like Asana too.  What’s really nice about these apps is they can be shared across friends and family so you can assign tasks to others. Check out these and other awesome Resources on my website!

Renée Blasky is the Founder and CEO of The LEAP Network Ltd.

She wasn’t always the risk-taking entrepreneur that she is today. Through several important life experiences, including being an "expat" for the vast majority of her life and sailing an ocean, she learned the importance and benefits of risk-taking and how to embrace risk rather than fear it! Renée also realized capturing life’s fulfillment meant giving back to others. So, she started her second business: The LEAP Network in order to share her experiences and expertise with "trailing spouses" who have sacrificed their careers to move across the globe when their spouses are transferred overseas.  Renée coaches on ways to avoid the "trailing spouse syndrome" to eliminate frustration, boredom and loneliness while becoming more fulfilled and happy!
