Hello Renée,

"Be Impeccable with Your Words – Speak with integrity, only say what you mean, avoid using the Word to go against yourself or to gossip about others, use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love”
-Don Miquel Ruiz, from The Four Agreements | Author

Words are very powerful, even if said silently as in thought.  We must be mindful of that power; our thoughts and words should be used to support, lift up and encourage ourselves as well as others.  Pause the next time you are not impeccable with your words (and thoughts) and consciously take a “do over”.

DESIGNING THE ALLIANCE—
EMPOWER ALL OF YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

-Suzanne is happy Victoria sends her business, but it annoys her when Victoria waits until the last minute to give her the work, causing Suzanne to scramble to get it done in less time than has been promised.

-Tom and Sarah have recently begun working together in a new venture.
Sarah wishes Tom would just “get it” that she doesn’t like to talk in the morning, or at least not until she has had her second cup of coffee.

-And Brian bemoans the fact his boss practically watches over his shoulder while he’s working. Can’t he just give him space and trust that Brian knows what he’s doing?

All of these people—in fact, just about anybody in any kind of relationship—can benefit by learning to “design the alliance” with the person with whom they’re in relationship.

The concept of designed alliance is often used in coaching to set the stage for a relationship that empowers clients to be the most successful as they make changes in their work and personal lives. For example, a coaching client might suggest the most effective ways for his coach to support him when he’s feeling scared, resistant or stuck. Once the alliance has been designed, it’s important to update it as individual needs and desires change.

This concept is highly applicable to all kinds of relationships:

  • business partnerships
  • romantic relationships
  • friends
  • parent-child
  • and more...

Imagine a world, in fact, where all relationships begin with a consciously designed alliance, the purpose of which is to create a mutually successful experience!

How might things be different in the scenarios above if alliances had been designed from the start?

Let's take a look at Suzanne & Victoria, Sarah & Tom, and Brian and his boss to see how things might be different!

Look for the Passion

Think about the last time you truly felt ALIVE. What were you doing? Who were you with?

  • Chances are, you were doing something you’re passionate about, or you were spending time with someone you really care about.

Now think about the last time you felt you were “having the life drained out” of you.

  • You were probably stuck in a boring job, dealing with a difficult person, or far away from your loved ones.

We all have perfectly natural occurrences of loneliness, boredom or frustration, but there are always ways to engage passion, and bring more LIFE into your life. You can create something new and exciting, visit a park or museum to witness beauty, strike up a conversation with a stranger, or think of something for which you are grateful.

When you seek out experiences of passion, you are filling yourself with vital energy…you’re filling yourself with LIFE.

As the old saying goes, “Everyone eventually dies, but not everyone really lives.”

If you want to REALLY LIVE, seek out passion through your activities and relationships, and when you find it, LIVE THERE.

What can YOU do TODAY to experience more passion?

Renée Blasky is the Founder and CEO of The LEAP Network Ltd.

She wasn’t always the risk-taking entrepreneur that she is today. Through several important life experiences, including being an "expat" for the vast majority of her life and sailing an ocean, she learned the importance and benefits of risk-taking and how to embrace risk rather than fear it! Renée also realized capturing life’s fulfillment meant giving back to others. So, she started her second business: The LEAP Network in order to share her experiences and expertise with "trailing spouses" who have sacrificed their careers to move across the globe when their spouses are transferred overseas.  Renée coaches on ways to avoid the "trailing spouse syndrome" to eliminate frustration, boredom and loneliness while becoming more fulfilled and happy!
