“Take the LEAP…Dream Big

                Plan small…be accountable…

                   GET results!”

21 November 2019

Hello Renée,

We are quickly approaching another year-end.  Are you happy with the results you have obtained so far?  Did your annual plan turn out as expected?  Or did you live this year drifting day-by-day with no plan in mind?  How did that work out for you?

To live a fulfilled life, we must live with intention.  We need to discover how we can turn our passions into a meaningful event, role or business.  Are you happy with the direction you have set for your life?

Does this sound familiar?

  • At the beginning of the every year, you make an awesome and inspiring plan... and THIS YEAR you promise yourself you're going to succeed!
  • Your plan is fantastic and exciting but a bit OVERWHELMING!  You wonder how you will get it all done.
  • So, within a very short period of time, you are already "off track", feel like giving up, and don't know how to fix it!
  • And so the story continues, another year comes and goes and the next new year sees you writing the same goals once again.

If you can relate to the above, you'll be interested to know that I’ll soon be introducing a program to help you:

  • Make that awesome, inspiring plan for both you and your business, AND ensure the plan is workable and sets you up for success.
  • Learn tools and techniques to:
    • help you stick to the plan;
    • kick procrastination to the curb;
    • establish routines and rituals to help you get out of your own way; and
  • Be accountable to keep you on track!

Or in other words... do it differently so you can succeed in implementing your plan and have fun with others while doing it!

You CAN get the results you want and start living your inspired life as it should be!  Don’t settle for mediocrity in 2020.

Don't worry! There is no obligation! We just want to give you access to the program details when they become available in early December.

May you have a blessed and abundant holiday season full of gratitude, laughter, love and fun!

Coping with Change

The world seems to be changing at an extraordinary pace. Are you keeping up? We get used to the way things are, and then they shift again. That change can be unsettling and even positive change can throw us for a loop, push us too far.

As soon as something nudges us out of our regular routine, or challenges our understanding of how the world works and where we fit into it, we’re likely to experience a deluge of feelings, including fear, anxiety, overwhelm, excitement, distraction or denial.

In turn, those feelings can manifest in behavior. You may act out with aggressive or passive-aggressive communication. You may push yourself to overwork or take the opposite approach and procrastinate, avoiding what’s on your plate. Or even worse, completely shut down.

Your self-care may suffer. You may reach for unhealthy substances or behaviors, get less sleep, skip meals or overindulge. You might cut yourself off from others or spend time with people who have unhealthy habits. The upcoming holiday season can be especially dangerous or nerve-wracking.

The Impact

Stress from both positive and negative change can have immediate and long-term effects. Stress inhibits digestion and absorption of nutrients, impairs your body’s ability to ward off germs, can cause insomnia and worsen pre-existing health conditions. If you’re also engaging in unhealthy behaviors and poor self-care, you’re at an even higher risk for illness or injury.

Mental abilities can be affected, as well. When you’re preoccupied about the future, it’s much harder to concentrate and/or apply your brainpower to what’s in front of you.  This is particularly hazardous for business owners.

Great leaders are admired for their serenity and confidence in the face of uncertainty. For many of us, though, at such times, serenity is far from our reach. Instead, emotions are close to the surface and can flare up at inopportune times. Whether you lash out, cry or pound on your desk, it’s uncomfortable to feel out of control.

Top 10 Ways to Face Transitions

Transitions, whether it is from a job change, a move to a different city or country, or maybe a new role, can be stressful.  If you’re facing a transition, consider the following:

1. Take an honest look at yourself. What are your strengths, weaknesses, and skills? How did those influence—positively or negatively—your transition?

2. Step up your self-care. Major changes are physically and emotionally taxing. You need self-care now more than ever.  Don’t wait to do it – set aside at least ten minutes a day for some self-care.

3. Engage your curiosity. What went wrong, or right? What could you have done better? What worked really well?

4. Focus on what you want, and less on what you don’t want. Keep your eye on the prize.

5. Find support. Since your transition affects your family as well, it may be better to seek the outside support of friends who have gone through similar experiences or professionals who specialize in this area.

6. Work on your thoughts. Calm your fears and reinforce your sense of hope and happiness.  Awareness of your thoughts is the first step – once you are aware, you can start working on how you may need to change your perspective.

7. Reassure (or avoid) those who are threatened by, or jealous of, the change. That is their problem, not yours.  You do what is best for you.  If the others don’t want to support you, that’s okay.  Make new circles of influence.

8. Create your own rite of passage. Ceremony and ritual help with all transitions.  They give us stability, and a calming sense of being in attunement with ourselves.

9. Let go of how things were “supposed to be” and accept “how things are.” Find appreciation for what is.  There is always something to be grateful for, even our mistakes if we have learned from them.

10. Keep things in perspective. Or try on a new perspective. Don’t get stuck. Remember, the only constant is change.  Most times when we look back on events that stressed us out, we wonder why because it all worked out!

“You Can Heal Your Life” by Louise Hay.
In response to the last Connections edition where I discussed fear, I heard from a reader who told me about this book.  She said it really helped her address her fears and take charge of her life. I look forward to reading it myself!

Renée Blasky is the Founder and CEO of The LEAP Network Ltd.

She wasn’t always the risk-taking entrepreneur that she is today. Through several important life experiences, including being an "expat" for the vast majority of her life and sailing an ocean, she learned the importance and benefits of risk-taking and how to embrace risk rather than fear it! Renée also realized capturing life’s fulfillment meant giving back to others. So, she started her second business: The LEAP Network in order to share her experiences and expertise with entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs.  This includes "trailing spouses", stay-at-home parents or elderly care givers who have sacrificed their careers due to circumstances beyond their control.  Renée coaches existing entrepreneurs on ways to monetize their passion, revitalize their businesses and take action to grow their businesses.  She coaches those  who have sacrificed their careers, either by choice or by uncontrolled circumstances, to eliminate frustration, boredom and loneliness while becoming more fulfilled and happy!  By helping them start their own online businesses, they can get their identity back, boost their self esteem and once again be financially independent!
